I plan to use this blog as a forum to post pictures and videos of my animals. I will also discuss some of the daily challenges of being a keeper and different activities the staff perform for the zoo. Zookeeping is a fun job; we enrich and train our animals on a daily basis. This keeps the animals interested in daily activities at the zoo. We sometimes breed our animals to prevent removing animals from the wild. In fact, sometimes we breed animals so we can put them back into the wild! In fact, that's all I did at my last job with the Crane Foundation. You can see the blog I wrote about raising, releasing, and tracking endangered whooping cranes by following this link.
I have been working in the zoo industry since 2004. I started as a keeper for 3 years. I am continuing my education in Zoo and Aquarium Management. I worked as an admissions supervisor, volunteer educator, conservation staff, and now I'm back to zookeeping.
The stories will be fun, the pictures will be cute, and I will try to keep it educational. Always, feel free to drop me a line. I love comments.
Sincerely,
Jen
